Men's Soccer Tie in Double OT Thriller

PAXTON, Mass:  Anna Maria College Men's Soccer team would go to double overtime with Conference opponent Rivier University and end in a draw 0-0 on AMACAT Field. 

 

Rivier University (0-9-1, 0-5-1 GNAC), Anna Maria College (2-8-1, 0-5-1 GNAC) 

 

First Half:

 

The AMCATS and Raiders went scoreless through the first half.  Jeffre Donahue (Rockland, Mass) was a standout in net, as he was able to make six saves. 

 

Second Half:

 

Rivier would have a golden chance in the middle of the second half to score when Donahue would be caught out of net but a big defensive save was made by Simon Berry (Londonderry, N.H). to keep the game noted up at 0-0.

 

First Overtime:

 

With 50 seconds remaining in the first overtime AMCAT Ryan Todesco (Sothwick, Mass) would have a shot right in front of the net but would be stopped on a leaping save from Collin Deyarmin.

 

Second Overtime:

Once again Anna Maria would have their best opportunity of the night to win the game with a minute to go.  Ryan Todesco had a beautiful shot that would be tipped from Dyarmin, the ball rolled out to Sean Nugent (Dracut, Mass) who would just miss wide right.

Anna Maria:  Jeffre Donahue:  0 Goals Allowed, 8 Saves (2-7-1)

 

Rivier: Collin Deyarmin, 0 Goals Allowed, 9 Saves (0-7-1)

Anna Maria's next game will come at home against conference opponent St. Joes (ME) on October 6th at 5PM. 

 

Rivier University next game is on the road against St. Joseph's (Conn.) on October 6th at 2PM.
