Men’s Soccer Drops Close One To Falcons

PAXTON, MA. – On Tuesday, September 19th the Anna Maria College men's soccer team hosted the Albertus Magnus Falcons for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 2-1.

The Falcons were the first on the board after a corner kick from Aiden Coelho set up Roger Baldwin for a scoring opportunity just seconds later. Trailing 1-0 early in the half, Matthew Pearle tied things up after Rubelsi Moran found him in front of the net for the AMCATS first goal. Tied up at one a piece, the AMCATS fought hard to take the lead before the end of the half but were unfortunately met by the Falcons second goal of the night just thirteen minutes after tying the game. The AMCATS would end up closing out the half behind the Falcons 2-1.

After a fifteen minute intermission, the AMCATS came out fast creating countless scoring chances throughout the second half. Outshooting the Falcons 9-5 in the second half, Anna Maria just couldn't find the back of the net. Albertus Goaltender David Lucero held the AMCATS scoreless for the final 45 minutes of the game, resulting in a final score of 2-1 in favor of the Falcons.
