Men’s Soccer Falls Short In Home Opener Against Curry

PAXTON, MA. – The Anna Maria College men's soccer team hosted the Curry College Colonels for their first game of the season at home. The AMCATS lost the game 2-1.

Hezekiah Adeyeye got the ball rolling for the AMCATS with a shot smoking the crossbar just a minute into the game. However a quick goal for the Colonels in the first eight minutes of the half set the AMCATS back. Holding their own, Anna Maria battled back and forth with the colonels holding the game at 1-0 coming out of the first half.

Despite outshooting the Colonels in the first, the AMCATS still found themselves trailing by one at the start of the second half. Just minutes in however, the AMCATS were up on the board with a goal from Rubelsi Moran, tying the game up at one a piece. The AMCATS continued to battle on as they went back and forth with the Colonels before giving up the game winning goal at the 75 minute mark. Unable to tie the game back up, Anna Maria closed things out trailing behind Curry 2-1. Valtar Santiago gave the AMCATS a fighting chance with a couple of key stops in the second half. Santiago finished the game out with six saves on eight shots on goal.
