Men's Basketball Falls to Trinity, 87-58, at Holiday Tournament

HARTFORD, Conn.—The Anna Maria College men's basketball team ended a three-week hiatus on Wednesday evening, falling 87-58 to Trinity College in the first day of action at the Trinity Holiday Invitational.

With the loss, Anna Maria falls to 5-4 overall, while Trinity improves to 6-3.

AMCAT LEADERS

Senior Patrick Bradanese (Billerica, Mass.) paced Anna Maria with 15 points and a team-best seven rebounds followed by junior Kyle McKissick (Charlton, Mass.) with 10 points and six rebounds. Corey Pryor (Whitinsville, Mass.) added eight points off the bench.

TRINITY LEADERS

Ed Ogundeko paced the hosts with a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds. He tallied his game-high scoring performance on a 7-for-9 effort from the floor. Jaquann Starks added 16 points and three assists, while Shay Ajayi added 11 points and four steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bantams got out to a hot start with Ogundeko scoring the team's first five points, followed by two breakaway baskets from Ajayi that gave the team a 9-2 advantage and forced Anna Maria to burn their first timeout at the 17:53 mark. Out of the timeout, Trinity responded with a 20-7 run to take a 29-9 lead. The Bantams headed into the locker room with a commanding 43-22 lead, led by 17 points from Ogundeko and nine from Ajayi. Ogundeko finished the half 7-8 from the field and added eight rebounds.

Trinity kept their foot on the gas in the second half as they maintained a 20-point lead for the majority of the time. After finishing the first half with six points, Starks put up 10 in the second half to finish with 16 points for the evening. Ogundeko finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds while Ajayi finished with 11 points.

FINAL COMPARISONS

As a team, Trinity shot 51.5% from the field (34-66) and out-rebounded Anna Maria 44-30. The AMCATS finished with a 37.0 percent effort from the floor (20-54). Trinity scored 19 points off turnovers and held a 42-22 advantage in points in the paint.

WHAT'S NEXT

Trinity moves on to the tournament championship game tomorrow at 2 p.m. and will play the winner of tonight's 7 p.m. Delaware Valley and Pine Manor game. Anna Maria will play in the consolation game scheduled for tomorrow at 12 p.m.
