Men’s Basketball Falls to Raiders in Regular Season Finale, 79-65

Nashua, NH – The Anna Maria College men's basketball team fell to host Rivier University 79-65 in the regular season finale for both teams at the Muldoon Gymnasium. With the win the Raiders move to 10-15 (7-11 GNAC), while the AMCATS dip to 9-16 (6-12 GNAC) and earn the #6 seed in the upcoming Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament which will begin on Tuesday night.

Anna Maria was led by Hugh Daye and Trevon Farley who combined for 23 points and Patrick Bradanese added 16 points off the bench for the AMCATS. Senior Joseph Barillo (Dania Beach, FL) finished out his regular season career with 5 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals.

Senior Tom Poitras (Bow, NH) closed out his legendary career with a 23 point afternoon and was matched by junior Jake Nelson (Nashua, NH) who also had 23 points. Senior Nick Walch (Dedham, Mass.) recorded a double-double in his final game inside the Muldoon as he went for 17 points and 11 rebounds. The other seniors that contributed in the game were Emmanuel Smith (New York, NY) – 3 points, Mike Fecteau (Epping, NH) – 1 assist and Shawn Gareau (Hardwick, Mass) – 1 assist.

The AMCAT shot 45.3% from the field and connected on six three-pointers while the Raiders shot a robust 60.9% from the floor.  Anna Maria held a slight edge in steals (13-11).

Anna Maria will travel to Johnson & Wales University on Tuesday night for the opening round of the tournament. Game time is slated for 7:00pm.
