VOLLEYBALL DROPS LAST TWO GAMES OF THE SEASON 3-1 AND 3-0
PAXTON, MA- On Saturday November 9, 2024, the Anna Maria College women's volleyball team would host the Cadets of Norwich University and the Monks of Saint Josephs of Maine for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference. The AMCATS would lose both games.
The AMCATS opened the day against the Cadets of Norwich University this first match would be a dog fight for the AMCATS. The first set of the match would prove to be a strong set for the AMCATS as they would put up points against the Cadets, but it would be the Cadets to bring on all the pressure at the end of the match, to beat the AMCATS in the first set 25 to 18. Despite the momentum being in favor of the Cadets and the Cadets being up 1 set to 0 over the AMCATS, the AMCATS would fight hard, and would never give up throwing it back at the Cadets taking that second set over the Cadets winning 25 to 18. The AMCATS would come look to come out strong with momentum from that second set win, but it would be the Cadets to find their opportunities and capitalize on every chance, putting the AMCATS trailing behind them, and ultimately beating the AMCATS in both the third and fourth sets, to win the game.
The second match for the AMCATS would be against the Monks of Saint Joseph's of Maine. After the AMCATS would lose the first match in a heartbreaker, to the Cadets they would look to come out strong, and give it their all, as a team to get the win against the Monks. The first set would not go the way the AMCATS hoped it would against the Monks, as it would be total control from the Monks, taking the first set over the AMCATS 25 to 8. The second set, the AMCATS would look to come out better than the first set against the Monks, and offensively the AMCATS would go point for point at first against the Monks, but it would be the AMCATS that would get stopped against the Monks at 17 points and the Monks would go on to score 25 points against the AMCATS, to beat them in the second set 25 to 17. This second set against the Monks would prove to be the best set for the AMCATS. The AMCATS would give it their all, against the Monks in the third setting, trying to keep the game going, they would make all sorts of defensive plays, while also using their offensive skills to get points on the board, but the comeback for the AMCATS would fall short to the Monks, as the Monks would beat the AMCATS 25 to 11. That would end the game, with the Monks of Saint Josephs of Maine, sweeping the AMCATS 3 to 0.
