Owls Fly Past Women's Volleyball 3-0
PAXTON, MA - On Thursday, September 26th the Anna Maria College women's volleyball team hosted the Westfield State University Owls for a non-conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 3 sets to 0.
The Owls took control of the game early after winning the first set 25-15 over the AMCATS. Trailing 1-0, the AMCATS had a promising start to the second set of the match, however the Owls were quick to tie things up and regain control. Despite the AMCATS early effort in set two, they would still find themselves falling 25-16, bringing them to a 2-0 deficit. Unable to claw back in set three, the AMCATS fell early to the Owls and could not battle back as Westfield put up a dominating 25-11 set, resulting in a 3-0 sweep for the Owls. Annie Taylor led the AMCATS with 14 digs on the evening while Jana Hunt led the offense with six kills and 7.5 points.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Jana Hunt leads the AMCATS so far this season in Kills with 53.
- Annie Taylor continues to dominate the Digs leaderboard for the AMCATS as she put up her 142nd of the season.
- This marks the AMCATS first meeting with the Owls since 2019.
COMING UP:
The AMCATS will be back in action on Saturday, September 28th where they will head to Henniker, NH for their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match of the Season. The AMCATS will face the Lasell University Lasers for game one of the tri-match, followed by a matchup against the Pilgrims of New England College.
