Volleyball Falls To The Mariners In 3 Straight Sets

PAXTON, MA - On Tuesday October 1, 2024, the Anna Maria College women's volleyball team hosted the Mitchell College Mariners for a conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 3 sets to 0.

The Mariners took control of the game early after winning the first set 25-13 over the AMCATS. Trailing 1-0, the AMCATS had quickly found themselves falling behind in the second set to the Mariners. The AMCATS would try to battle back in the second set but would find themselves coming up short to the Mariners of Mitchell College losing the second set 25 to 11. Unable to claw back in set three, the AMCATS fell early to the Mariners and could not battle back as Mitchell College would put up a dominating 25-14 set, resulting in a 3-0 sweep for the Mariners. Jana Hunt and Bri Franklin would lead the AMCATS offense as they would both get 8 kills, while Gia Hall would lead the AMCATS offense with 14 attacks. Annie Taylor would lead the AMCATS with 13 digs on the night against the Mariners. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • Jana Hunt leads the AMCATS so far this season in Kills with 74.
  • Gia Hall leads the AMCATS so far this season in Attacks with 144.
  • Annie Taylor continues to dominate the Digs leaderboard for the AMCATS as she put up her 187 digs of the season.
  • This marks the AMCATS getting swept to the Mariners of Mitchell College for the second time this season. 

COMING UP:

The AMCATS will be back in action on October 4, 2024, where they will host the Trailblazers of MCLA. The match is set to start at 6:00pm.
