Men's Soccer Closes Out Regular Season With 2-0 Loss To Monks

STANDISH, ME - On Tuesday, October 29th the Anna Maria College men's soccer team traveled to Standish, ME to take on the Monks of Saint Joseph's College for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 2-0.

After a nearly scoreless first half, the Monks were the first to strike with just minute left to play before halftime. Trailing 1-0 the AMCATS battled with the Monks in an effort to equalize however the teams were held even for most of the second half. It wasn't until the seventy first minute of the game that the Monks added some insurance to their lead with a goal off a penalty kick. With time running out, the AMCATS were unable to muster up a comeback resulting in a 2-0 loss to close out the regular season. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • Rubelsi Moran finished the season with at least a point in all but four games this season.
  • Valter Santiago closed out regular season play ranking second in the conference for both saves and save %. (104, .839).
  • Moran led the conference in three categories. Goals (15), Points (32) and Shots (91).
  • The AMCATS would end their season with the #6 spot, clinching a spot in the playoffs.

COMING UP:

The AMCATS will be back in action on Saturday, November 2nd where they will head to Providence, RI to take on the #3 ranked Johnson & Wales University Wildcats for the first round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Playoffs. Opening kickoff is set for 2:30pm.
