Men's Soccer Battles Past Cadets 2-1
PAXTON, MA - On Saturday, September 7th the Anna Maria College men's soccer team hosted the Norwich University Cadets for their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup of the season. The AMCATS won the game 2-1.
Battling back and forth throughout the first half of the game, neither team would find the back of the net in the first 45 minutes of play. Evenly matched, the AMCATS would enter the second half of the game tied with the Cadets 0-0.
The second half of the game would see all of the action as the AMCATS wasted no time, scoring just 35 seconds into the half. The first goal of the game would come of the boot of freshman Kyle Brocker. Quick to respond, the Cadets would tie things back up just over a minute later, scoring off a scrum in front of the net. Tied up at one a piece, the AMCATS found themselves stuck in a dog fight with the Cadets. It wasn't until 62 minutes into the game that the AMCATS would retake the lead after Kyle Brocker scored his second goal of the night, second of his career. The AMCATS game winning goal came off a pass from Ciaran Bailey. After taking the lead, the AMCATS would fight hard too secure the win after the Cadets piled on shots in an attempt to tie the game up. The Cadets pursuit would continue all the way until the final buzzer as the AMCATS managed to secure their third straight win to start the 2024 season.

- The AMCATS win marks the first time in over 15 years that they have beaten the Cadets.
- Its been over ten years since the AMCATS opened up their season with three straight wins.
- Kyle Brocker recorded his first and second career goals in the win over the Cadets.
COMING UP:
The AMCATS are back in action on Wednesday, September 11th where they will host the Elms College Blazers for their second Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup of the season. Opening kickoff is set for 4:00pm.
