PAXTON, MA - On Saturday, October 5th the Anna Maria College men's soccer team hosted the Pilgrims of New England College for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS won the game 1-0.
The AMCATS dominated the offense during the first half, outshooting the Pilgrims 7-3 with 5 shots on goal. Despite the strong offensive presence from the AMCATS, the Pilgrims goalkeeper Lukas Tate was able to keep the game scoreless throughout the first half.
Tied up nil, nil the game wouldn't see its first goal until almost ten minutes into the second half when Rubelsi Moran capitalized on a penalty kick making it 1-0. Leading over the Pilgrims, the AMCATS were forced to step things up on defense as the New England College offense put the pressure on in an effort to tie the game up. Valter Santiago would hold down the fort accompanied by some strong defensive play from Baptiste Petitjean to help keep the Pilgrims scoreless as the second half came to a close.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- The AMCATS remain undefeated at home so far this season.
- Rubelsi Moran has had a point or more in all but two of the AMCATS games this season.
- Moran tied his personal record for goals in a season with ten so far this year. (2021-22; 10 G).
- Valter Santiago still leads the GNAC in Saves (79) and Save Percentage (.898)

Men's soccer will be back in action on Wednesday, October 9th where they will host the Emmanuel College Saints for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. Opening kickoff is set for 7:00pm at Caparso Field in Paxton, MA.
