Women's Soccer Falls to Albertus Magnus, 4-0

PAXTON, Mass.—The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team claimed a 4-0 win over the Anna Maria College AMCATS on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action.

With the win, Albertus Magnus improves to 4-4-1 overall and 2-0-1 in GNAC action, while the loss drops Anna Maria to 1-6 overall and 1-2 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons took an incredible number of shots in the contest, clocking in with 43 overall shots and 23 shots on goal.

Albertus struck early, scoring their first goal at the 8:19 mark. Falcons goals in the 18th, 28th, and 44th minutes gave the Falcons a 4-0 lead at halftime.

Anna Maria's best opportunity to score came in the 36th minute when Ashley Bottis (Rutland, Mass.) had an open look on net, but her shot was tossed away by the Falcons goalkeeper.  

SCORING

Junior Angelina Piccirillo (Naugatuck, Conn.) scored first, scoring an impressive goal from the corner.

The second goal of the game, scored by Kerrigan Loughman (Trumbull, Conn.), was scored on a penalty kick for a 2-0 lead.

The Falcons' third goal was scored by Liz Falcigno (Wallingford, Conn.) and was assisted by Liz Nagy (Meriden, Conn.) in the 28th minute. The final goal was scored by Erin Daly (Seymour, Conn.) at the 43:51 mark.

GOALKEEPERS

Anna Maria's junior goalkeeper Kate Kneeland (Windham, Maine) recorded 19 saves in the loss. The Falcons split time between three different keepers. Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) earned the victory in net and recorded one save. Cassidy Scorfield (Shelton, Conn.) also tallied a save in the final 13:13 of the game.
