Click grabs second ECAC Player of the Week Award

PAXTON, Mass. (01.25.11) – Anna Maria College sophomore Anthony Click (Springfield, Mass.) was selected as the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Men's Basketball Player of Week on Tuesday afternoon. This is the second time this month that Click has earned the award.

Click led Anna Maria to conference victories over both Endicott College and the University of New England, averaging a triple-double with an outstanding 18.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 10.0 assists, 2.5 steals, and 1.0 block per game. The sophomore standout knocked down 73.7% of his attempts from the floor, while also shooting 66.7% from downtown, and 85.7% from the line.

Anthony started the week with a game-high 26 points and eight assists to go along with seven rebounds during an 86-66 victory over Endicott. Click returned three days later to compile the first Anna Maria College triple-double since Brian Theirrien accomplished the feat for the AMCATS in February of 1999. Anthony had 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting while leading all players with 14 rebounds and 12 assists.

Click now ranks among the top 50 in the nation in field goal percentage and has helped the AMCATS to seven wins over their last eight contests, improving the team to 10-7 overall, and more importantly, 4-1 during conference play. Anna Maria continues their playoff mission with road games versus Curry on Thursday at 8:00 pm and Eastern Nazarene on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
