Paulhus Nets 18 in loss to Wildcats

PROVIDENCE, RI - On Saturday, January 18th the Anna Maria College women's basketball team traveled to Providence, RI to take on the Johnson & Wales University Wildcats for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 86-66.

The AMCATS worked from an early deficit in a hard fought first quarter. After trailing by more than ten points early on, the AMCATS managed to cut the Wildcats lead down to just five points as the first quarter came to a close.

Unable to catch up the AMCATS found themselves trailing by 15 points against the Wildcats at the end of the first half of play. Most of the AMCATS offense came from Madison Paulhus who led the first half of the game with 8 points while Kiara Gauthier and Tiffany Salazar contributed six points each.

Following the intermission, the AMCATS continued to struggle as the Wildcats kept the game out of reach. It wasn't until the fourth quarter that the AMCATS matched the Wildcats on the score card with each team posting 14 points. unfortunately this wouldn't be enough for the AMCATS to close the Gap as they still found themselves short by twenty points as the final buzzer went off.
