Women's Basketball Narrowly Defeats Cadets On The Road
NORTHFIELD, VT - On Tuesday, January 7th the Anna Maria College women's basketball team traveled to Northfield, VT to take on the Cadets of Norwich University for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS won the game 74-65.
The AMCATS took control throughout the first half of the game, pulling away with a 16 point lead over the Cadets. As the game entered the third quarter, the AMCATS continued to control the game however the Cadets began to tighten the gap as they came just two points shy of tying the AMCATS third quarter score.
Despite holding an 18 point lead, the AMCATS were met with a surge from the Cadets in the fourth quarter of play. The Cadets managed to score 27 points in the fourth quarter to bring the game within two points with just over a minute left to play. The AMCATS managed to hold off the Cadets as they regained control of the game with nine points to secure their second conference win of the season.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Three different AMCATS totaled 17 points in the win over the Cadets. (Marinique Reddin, Kiara Gauthier and Madison Paulhus)
- Kiara Gauthier has posted double digit points in each of her last four games played.
- The AMCATS posted a season high of 40% success behind the three point line.
COMING UP:
Women's basketball is back in action on Saturday, January 11th where they will head to Weston, MA to take on the Regis College Pride for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. Opening tip-off is set for 3:00pm.
