Women's Basketball Drops First Game In Florida To Warhawks

DAYTONA, FL - On Friday, December 20th the Anna Maria College women's basketball team traveled to Daytona, FL to take on the University of Wisconsin Whitewater Warhawks for game one of the Daytona Beach Shootout. The AMCATS lost the game 76-50.

The Warhawks took an early eight point lead over the AMCATS in the first quarter. Marinique Reddin got things started for the AMCATS offense, scoring 9 out of 13 points in the first quarter.

Things would be much closer in the second quarter for the AMCATS as the Warhawks only put up four more points than the AMCATS. Despite the close second quarter, the Warhawks would still lead by 12 points as the first half of the game came to a close.

After the intermission, the Warhawks came out flying putting up 25 points compared to the AMCATS 11. Marinique Reddin would put up five of the AMCATS eleven points in the third quarter. The AMCATS found themselves in a deadlocked fourth quarter with each team scoring thirteen points however at the end of the game it was the Warhawks that came out on top.

The AMCATS will be back in action on Saturday, December 21st where they will take on the Raiders of Mount Union University for game two of the Daytona Beach Shootout. Opening tip-off is set for 4:00pm.
