WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DROPS NAIL BITER TO BISON

DUDLEY, MA- On Monday November 18th, 2024, the Anna Maria College women's basketball team traveled to Dudley, MA to take on the Bison of Nichols College. The AMCATS lost the game 89 to 80. 

In the first quarter, the AMCATS would silence the Bison putting up 27 points compared to the Bisons 18 points. The AMCATS would continue with all the momentum as they would continue to put up points against the Bison scoring 20 more points before the half. The AMCATS would have a confident lead heading into halftime over the Bison, leading by 12 points. 

The AMCATS would hope to come out at halftime, using their momentum to power their  offensive skills to add to their lead against the Bison. It would not go in the AMCATS favor as the Bisons would come out strong offensively dominating the third quarter against the AMCATS scoring 33 points, while limiting the AMCATS to only 19 points in the third quarter. Even though the AMCATS were outscored in the third quarter, the AMCATS refused to give up and would keep battling, scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter. Despite the 14-point run for the AMCATS, the Bison would take control over the AMCATS scoring a total of 24 points in the fourth quarter, to gain the lead over the AMCATS. The Bisons 54-point run in the second half of the game would prove to be enough for a come from behind defeat over the AMCATS winning the game 89 to 80. 

For the AMCATS Marinique Reddin was the leading scorer with 29 points. Madison Paulhus also had a strong performance, scoring 16 points, in her outing against the Bison. Kiara Gauthier would also contribute for the AMCATS scoring a total of 12 points in the matchup against the Bison. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Marinique Reddin would not only take control on offense for the AMCATS, but also on defense totaling a season high of 25 rebounds. Reddin would also record 15 defensive rebounds for the AMCATS against the Bison. 
  • Tiffany Salazar would lead the AMCATS with five assists in the matchup. 

COMING UP:

The AMCATS will be back in action on Wednesday November 20th, 2024, where they look to travel to Fitchburg, MA to take on the Falcons of Fitchburg State for a non-conference matchup. Opening Tip-off is set for 6:00pm.
