AMCAT Sotball, Day 2

AMCAT Sotball, Day 2

Clermont, Fla. –  Senior Mary Moroski had an RBI double and Cristina Turley picked up another RBI for the AMCAT softball team but it wasn't enough as AMC dropped a 5-2 decision to Hood College on day two of spring break action at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida. Anna Maria's season record slides to 0-4 after an earlier 19-0 loss to Grace College.

In the night cap the AMCATS held their first lead of the season when Moroski lined a double to left center that drove in freshman Nichole Lowe from first base. Cristina Turley stepped to the plate next and calmly singled up the middle scoring Moroski from second.

Hood cut the lead in half with a SAC fly in the bottom of the second and tied the game2-2 in the bottom of the third on an Anna Maria miscue.

Hood scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth inning to take a 5-2 lead.

Anna Maria tried to rally in the top of the seventh when they had two runners in scoring position but couldn't get them across the plate.

Freshman Justine Lalonde started the game pitching 2/3rd of an inning and Nichole Lowe pitched the rest of the game in relief.

In game one, freshman Nicole Luce picked up her first collegiate hit in the bottom of the fourth inning, breaking up a perfect game and a no-hitter with one swing of the bat. Cristina Turley had the other hit for the AMCATS.
