Men’s Lacrosse: AMCATS Fall to Mount St. Vincent, 12-3

Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Lacrosse team scored an impressive 12-3 win over Anna Maria in its season opener on Saturday evening.

 
Mount Saint Vincent took control of the game early on Saturday, surging out to a 5-0 lead after the first quarter.  
The Dolphins went into halftime with a commanding 9-1 lead over the AMCATS after scoring four more times in the second quarter. Senior Rex Wall (Osterville, Mass.) connected on a man-down goal for Anna Maria to push the halftime advantage to eight goals.
 
The visitors would out score the Mount 2-1 in the third stanza on Saturday to cut their disadvantage to 9-3, sophomore Lucas Stralka (East Greenwich, RI) potted AMC second goal at the 13:27 mark and Wall added his second of the day. However Germain Ngaba (Bronx, N.Y.) got the Dolphins' 10th goal in the game with 7:14 left in the third quarter and Charles Lloyd (Wheatley, N.Y.) and McEnaney each added their second goals of the game to expand the Mount's led to the final nine goal decision.
 
Kalibat rounded out the game with 12 stops for Mount Saint Vincent in 35:32 minutes of work to go along with a team-high eight groundballs. Ben Gashi (Bronx, N.Y.) stopped nine shots in 24:28 of action. Franco Francioso (Walpole, Mass.) played a strong game for Anna Maria, making 19 stops in the loss.
 
Overall in the game, Mount Saint Vincent outshot Anna Maria 45-30 and posted a 43-30 edge in groundballs. The Dolphins were an efficient 12-for-14 in clearing chances on Saturday and went 1-for-3 in extra man opportunities.

 

Anna Maria returns to action next Saturday when they travel to Mitchell College for a 1:00 p.m. match-up.
