Anderson Leads Men’s Hockey In Win Over UMASS-Dartmouth

AUBURN, MA: The Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team hosted the UMASS-Dartmouth Corsairs on Tuesday December, 6 at the Horgan Arena in Auburn. The AMCATS won the game 5-3.

THE BASICS:

HIGHLIGHTS

  • After a scoreless first period the Corsairs started things off in the second and were the first on the board scoring 1:50 into the period. 
  • The AMCATS found themselves trailing by yet another goal as the Corsairs tucked away their second goal of the night 3:53 into the second off the power play.
  • Just two minutes later the AMCATS scratch back with a goal from Guillaume Coulombe. He is assisted by Brandon Della Paolera and Braden Sinclair reducing the Corsairs lead to one.
  • After a few minutes of back and forth UMASS struck again with a goal scored at 10:09 into the period. Bringing Anna Maria's deficit back to two.
  • With under four minutes left in the second period UMASS led by two before Carter Anderson found the back of the net closing the gap for the AMCATS.
  • Anna Maria closed out the second period down 3-2.
  • Trailing by one goal at the start of the third Anna Marias's Anderson was able to score his second goal of the night to tie the game up at three points a piece. He was assisted by Michael Padgeon and Sinclair (second assist).
  • All tied up the AMCATS went back and forth with the Corsairs until Pearce Baker broke the ice with a goal late in the third period giving Anna Maria the lead with less than five minutes left of play. He was assisted by Coulombe and Matthew Byrne.
  • With under a minute left on the clock the Cosairs pulled their goalie for the extra skater but they were met with an empty net goal scored by Anderson.
  • Anderson scored three goals collecting his first career hat trick.
  • Goaltender Cole Johnston posted 33 saves on 36 shots.

Anna Maria will be in action again Saturday, Dec 10 as they travel to Gorham, ME to face off agains the University of Southern Maine. Puck drop is at 4:00pm.
