Alex Cohen Named ECFC Offensive Player Of The Week

KILLINGWORTH, Conn.. – Anna Maria College senior quarterback Alex Cohen, was named the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Saturday, October 8. This marks the second time Cohen has been named the Offensive Player of the Week. He earned player of the week honors for his performance in Week 2.
 
Cohen, a native of Plymouth, Mass., and a graduate of Plymouth South High School, led the AMCATS to a 41-27 road conference win over Maritime (N.Y.). Cohen was responsible for five touchdowns. Through the air, Cohen completed 22 passes (31 attempts, 0 interceptions) for 299 yards and four TDs. He also compiled a team leading 83 rushing yards and found the end zone once on 10 attempt. Both his completion percentage (71.0) and rushing yard figures were season-highs. The AMCATS improved to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the ECFC.
 
Cohen was named Offensive Playe of the Week three times in 2021.

About the ECFC

The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference was formed in the spring of 2009 as an NCAA Division III single-sport football conference. The conference, named after the geographic location of the institutions began competition in the fall of 2009.

Current members are Alfred State College (Alfred, NY), Anna Maria College (Worcester, MA), Castleton University (Castleton, VT.), Dean College (Franklin, MA), Gallaudet University (Washington, D.C.), Keystone College (La Plume, PA), and Maritime College State University of New York (Throggs Neck, NY).

The mission of the conference is to:

  1. Promote intercollegiate varsity football as an integral part of the educational experience of all competitors. 
  2. Establish a conference schedule and determine a conference championship that will represent the conference as the automatic qualifier to the NCAA national tournament.
  3. Adopt sportsmanship, fair play, moral integrity, and competitive excellence as cornerstones of the conference.
