Briand Announces Staff for 2018 Season

PAXTON, Mass – Earlier this week, first year AMCAT baseball head coach Dan Briand announced his coaching staff for the 2018 season. Joining him in the dugout will be Andrew McKeon and Brett Holmgren.

Andrew McKeon will serve as the team's Pitching Coach and the program's Recruiting Coordinator. Coach McKeon comes to Anna Maria from Fitchburg State University where he spent last season as the Falcons pitching coach. Prior to that he was an assistant at Roger Williams University. He worked closely with Coach Briand at both schools.

"Andrew is one of the best pitching coaches in New England in my opinion," said Briand. "He works with high level, Division I athletes all summer for the Martha's Vineyard Sharks of Futures Collegiate Baseball League. We are very fortunate to have a pitching coach of his caliber as part of our program."

In addition to being the pitching coach, McKeon will also serve as the recruiting coordinator.  "McKeon has a lot of experience identifying talent, as well as finding student-athletes that fit the make-up of the program we want to build," said Briand. "Andrew is also one of the hardest working assistant coaches in New England College Baseball, when it comes to recruiting and putting in the effort needed to be successful."

Brett Holmgren will also be joining the staff as an assistant coach.  Holmgren spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Endicott College in Beverly, Mass under head coach Bryan Haley.

"I have a lot of respect for the program at Endicott," Briand said.  "To have the opportunity to hire someone who has won multiple conference championships and played in two NCAA Regional Championship games as a player, as well as the opportunity to coach under Bryan Haley at Endicott is a tremendous asset for our program."

Brett will work with the hitters and the infielders, which he also does in the summer with the Martha's Vineyard Sharks of the FCBL.

The AMCATS will begin their season on February 24th at the New England Baseball Complex when they host Fitchburg State University at 12PM.
