Bison Charge Past AMCATS

DUDLEY, Mass. – Senior captain Michael Bane (North Grafton, Mass.) scored a career-high six goals in Nichols College's 21-1 win over Anna Maria College Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Vendetti Field.

Junior Anthony Verville (Portland, Maine) recorded two goals and three helpers as the Bison evened their record at 1-1. Classmate Brian Hancock (Groton, Mass.) registered a hat trick and also dished out an assist, freshman MacKenzie Martin (Merrimack, N.H.) picked up three assists, and sophomores Tyler Sikich (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) and Matt Feigenblat (Shelton, Conn.) each scored twice.

The Bison led 7-0 after one behind two each from Bane and Feigenblat, and 11-0 at halftime. Nichols held a 29-2 edge in shots through the first 30 minutes. Bane potted three in the third while Sikich went for a goal and an assist to make it 18-0 after three.

Junior Joseph Morris (Medford, Mass.) recorded 15 saves in defeat for the AMCATS (0-2). Junior Alex Rezendes (Nantucket, Mass.) broke the Nichols' shutout attempt with his second of the season with 3:05 left in the fourth.

Freshman James Keane (Franklin, Mass.) played the first 45 minutes and made two saves to earn his first collegiate win. Classmate Nicholas Finan (Salem, Mass.) stopped two shots in the final stanza.

The Bison finished the contest with a 53-10 edge in shots. Senior Sean Coates (Grafton, Mass.) led all student-athletes with nine ground balls.

Nichols hosts UMass Boston Thursday at 4:00 p.m. The AMCATS open Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Thursday in the team's home opener against Norwich at 5:00 p.m.
