Men's Lacrosse Blanked by Daniel Webster

Hudson, NH – Rookie Storm Adams (Akwesasne, Que.) posted five goals and four assists on just six shots and Anthony Cotoni (Groton, Mass.) added four scores and two setups as host Daniel Webster shutout Anna Maria, 14-0 in a regional matchup Saturday night on the campus of Presentation of Mary Academy.

Adams' nine points was the highest single-game output by an Eagle since the 2011 season and DWC shutout an opponent for the first time since a whitewash of Becker in April 2007.

Moreover, DWC improved to 3-3 overall, matching the total number of wins for the program over the previous two seasons combined. The Eagles topped Anna Maria (1-7) for the first time in their brief three-game all-time series.

David Downie (Merrimack, N.H.) picked up three assists and was 8 of 10 on faceoffs for the winners, while Kevin Lambert (Weymouth, Mass.) potted two goals. Tommy Hanley (Syracuse, N.Y.) posted a goal and three assists while Andrew Sousa (Raymond, Maine) and Dan Knupfer (Corfu, N.Y.) scored once.

Brandyn Torrey (Keene, N.H.) finished with a game-high nine groundballs, one short of a career high. Curtis Larade (Merrimack, N.H.) posted six saves in goal for his first career shutout.

Nathan Battalas (Templeton, Mass.) picked up eight groundballs to help the AMCAT cause while Michael Rodriguez (Cranston, R.I.) pulled in seven. Andrew Marcotte (Plainville, Mass.) was 50-percent (5-10) in the faceoff circle and Alex Rezendes (Nantucket, Mass.) posted nine saves in goal.

DWC posted a 23-6 shots on goal advantage and added a 49-35 win in groundballs. DWC was 2 for 4 on the man advantage and added a man-down goal to help their cause.

Adams would net a hat trick in the first quarter as DWC led 6-0 after one. Cotoni would pick up two in the second and added two more in the third. DWC led 11-0 at the half and notched their final three in the third.

The Eagles are now on the road for their next five beginning Wednesday as they visit Wheelock for a regional matchup at 4:00 p.m.

Anna Maria visits GNAC foe Rivier on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
