Wildcats Sprint Past AMCAT Lacrosse

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team suffered a 14-1 loss to the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University on Thursday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

Anna Maria's lone goal was scored by freshman Michael Rodriguez (Cranston, R.I.) with 1:07 left in the game.

The Wildcats scored 14-straight goals in the win and saw a team-leading five goals and an assist from Sam Sears. Eric Russo added four goals and three assists, while Max stone dished out four helpers.

Anna Maria goaltender Joseph Morris (Methuen, Mass.) tallied 19 saves in net for the AMCATS, who were outshot 59-13 on the day. JWU netminder JC Guido earned the win, totaling three saves in 45:14 of action.

 Junior Alex Rezendes (Nantucket, Mass.) scooped up a team-best four ground balls for Anna Maria. Brett Leighton finished with seven ground balls for Johnson & Wales.

Anna Maria will continue their three-game road streak on Saturday in an 8:00 p.m. non-conference game against Daniel Webster at Presentation of Mary Academy in Hudson, N.H.
