Men's Lacrosse Drops Nail Biter To Blazers

CHICOPEE, MA - On Wednesday, April 3rd the Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team traveled to Chicopee, MA to take on the Elms College Blazers for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference Matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 11-10.

In an absolute nail biter of a game, the AMCATS went down early against the Blazers giving up three quick goals in the first three minutes of the first quarter. The AMCATS would go on to return the favor starting with a goal from Spencer Carpenter with just under nine minutes to go in the quarter. Hank Gittines would score for the AMCATS less than a minute later, cutting the Blazers lead down to just one goal. Naje Wray would tie the game up for the AMCATS with a goal just over a minute later. Tied up at three goals a piece, Liam Bedenkop gave the AMCATS the lead as the first quarter entered the last five minutes. Unfortunately the AMCATS wouldn't close out the quarter with the lead as the Blazers tucked two late goals to make it a 5-4 game going into the second quarter.

After a slow start to the second quarter, the Blazers tacked on their sixth goal just five minutes in. Luckily enough for the AMCATS, Carpenter would get the train rolling again scoring two goals to tie the game up at six a piece. Bedenkop would take the lead again for the AMCATS with just over six minutes left to go in the first half. Jeremy Dewar would add another goal for the AMCATS as the quarter came to a close, giving them an 8-6 lead over the Blazers going into halftime.

The third quarter would be a back and forth affair starting with an early goal from the Blazers. Hank Gittines would give a quick response scoring just thirty seconds later. The Blazers would go on to score yet another goal with just over ten minutes to go in the quarter. Thankfully another goal from Dewar would help the AMCATS maintain the two goal difference over the Blazers. The Blazers closed the quarter out with a goal to make it a 10-9 game in favor of the AMCATS.

After an early goal to start the fourth quarter, the Blazers tied the game up at ten goals a piece. Both teams would battle back and forth to regain the lead however it would be the Blazers who came out on top, scoring the game winning goal with just thirty seconds left to play. Unable to tie the game back up, the AMCATS would end up losing the game 11-10.
