Men's Lacrosse Takes Down Trailblazers For First Win Of The Season

NORTH ADAMS, MA. – On Saturday, March 2nd the Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team traveled to North Adams, MA to take on the Trailblazers of MCLA for a non-conference matchup. The AMCATS won the game 20-13.

The AMCATS opened up the game quick after Nathan Powers scored just five seconds into the first quarter, off the face-off. The game wouldn't see anymore goals for almost nine minutes before the Trailblazers tied things up. The AMCATS answered with after Spencer Carpenter buried a goal off a pass from Hank Gittines. The AMCATS would surge for three more goals throughout the next three minutes of the game as Aiden Foster, Hank Gittines and Eric Farrell each buried one to bring their lead to 5-1. The Trailblazers managed one more goal in the first quarter before Farrell and Gittines tucked away two more goals for the AMCATS to close the quarter out with a score of 7-2.

Carpenter started the second quarter with a man up goal less than two minutes in. The Trailblazers managed a goal shortly after, however Foster would score just ten seconds later for the AMCATS. After one last goal from the Trailblazers, Foster and Gittines closed out the first half with a goal each to put the AMCATS lead at 11-4.

The AMCATS opened up the third quarter with three straight goals, piling on to their lead over the Trailblazers. MCLA would tack on one more goal before Eric Farrell tucked in two goals back to back. The Trailblazers would go on to score five unanswered goals to cut the AMCATS lead down to just six. The fourth quarter would be a back and fourth battle with the AMCATS burying four more goals to secure the win as they outscored the Trailblazers 20-13 at the end of regulation.

The AMCATS will be back in action on Thursday, March 7th where they will travel to Bristol, RI to take on the Roger Williams University Hawks for a non-conference matchup. Opening face-off is set for 4:00pm.
