Women's Lacrosse: Hawks Soar Past Lady AMCATS

Paxton, MA – Becker College (1-3) defeated Anna Maria College (0-2), 20-4 in a non-conference women's lacrosse contest on Monday evening. Freshman Kylie Dalbec (Portland, ME) netted a pair of goals and assists in the losing bid.

The Hawks were paced by junior Ashley Mossey (Ballston Lake, NY) who poured in a game-high seven goals, while Kailee Ruyack (Beacon, NY) and Samantha-Jo Dilkes (Little Falls, NJ) each scored hat tricks. Dilkes also dished out two assists in the win.

Dalbec opened the game for the AMCATS, tipping the twine 54 seconds in for her first collegiate goal on a pass out front from senior Sandy Acosta (Lawrence, MA). The Hawks answered with eight unanswered goals, including two goals from Ruyack and freshman Victoria Belcher (Seekonk, MA).

AMC's freshman attack Emily Adriaansen (Pepperell, MA) potted the second goal of the half, her first of her career, for Anna Maria with Dalbec adding the helper to cut the lead to 8-2. Becker scored the last two goals of the first stanza to take a 10-2 lead into intermission.

The teams went scoreless over the opening ten minutes of the second half. With 19:41 on the clock, freshman Katherine Landanno (Winchendon, MA) led Dalbec with a pass at the 40-yard line and the midfielder deposited the fast break score to make the deficit 10-3. However, Becker outscored Anna Maria 10-1 down the stretch for the 20-4 win.

AMCAT freshman midfielder Brittany Jackson (Larchmont, NY) scored a man-up goal with 6:46 remaining for her first collegiate goal.

AMCAT netminder Sarah Lathrop (Milford, MA) posted 14 saves in the loss, her counterpart Shelby Wicks made one save for her first win of the season.

Anna Maria returns to action on Wednesday when they host Simmons College in a GNAC match-up at 4:00 pm, weather permitting. Becker will next host UMaine-Farmington on Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm.
