BOSTON, MA: The Anna Maria College softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader against visiting Simmons University on Saturday in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the Daly Field complex in Boston.

TURNING POINT:

  • GAME ONE – Was a tough one of the AMCATS as the Sharks managed to put up multiple runs in all five innings. The AMCATS run came in the first inning as senior shortstop Michelle Cilley (Dracut, MA) led off the inning with a double down the leftfield line. Sophomore pitcher Eden Forget (Worcester, MA) advanced her to third with a ground out to second before sophomore catcher Saylor Costa brought her home on 0-2 single back up the middle.
  • GAME TWO – The Sharks controlled game two as well, getting home runs from Jordyn Rubin (Lewiston, ME) and Sam Barr (Harwich, MA).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Anna Maria sophomore catcher Saylor Costa (E. Providence, RI) drove in runs in both games, with an RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the first in game one to score Cilley and an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh of game two to drive in Forget.
  • Anna Maria junior middle-infielder Kendall McNamee (Somers, CT) had two hits on the day, including an RBI single in the bottom of the second of game two to bring home senior Samantha Dahill (Littleton, MA).

UP NEXT:
The AMCATS are scheduled to play their next double-header on Sunday when they travel to Norwich University for a 12:00 p.m. GNAC contest.
