WESTON, MA: The Anna Maria College softball team dropped a pair of games at Regis College on Friday in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Game One – Senior right-handed pitcher Sabrina Liston (Rehoboth, MA) limited the Pride to only three runs on six hits while striking out five but was let down by her offense to fall to 2-5 on the season.
  • Game Two – The AMCATS nearly mounted a comeback in the second game. Liston reached on an infield single before being lifted for pinch-runner sophomore Samantha Pusateri (Worcester, MA). Pusateri moved to second when sophomore catcher Saylor Costa (E. Providence, RI) reached on an error by the shortstop. After a sacrifice bunt by freshman designated player Raven Carriere (Labroquerie West, MB) moved the runners to second and third, senior outfielder Samantha Dahill (Littleton, MA) brought the Pusateri home with a single to right field. Pride pitcher Kate McGrath (Boston, MA) was able to buckle down and strike out the last AMCAT batter to seal the win.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Sophomore shortstop Eden Forget (Dracut, MA) was a combined 3-6 with a double.
  • Sophomore catcher Saylor Costa (E. Providence, RI) had four hits in seven trips to the plate, including going 3-4 in the first game. She also had four runs scored.
  • Freshman centerfielder Rory Hughes (Worcester, MA) had her five-game on-base streak snapped in game two. She reached on a pair of walks in the first game.
  • Liston remained hot at the plate, recording hits in both games to give her 19 hits through 14 games.

UP NEXT:

The AMCATS will return to the field on Sunday with a doubleheader at home against Dean College. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
