Monks Too Much For Men’s Lacrosse

STANDISH, ME. – The Anna Maria Men's lacrosse team (2-13; 1-7) traveled to Standish, ME on Tuesday, April 18th to take on the Monks of St. Joseph's (ME) (8-7; 6-2) in a GNAC Conference Matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 20-8.

Held Scoreless for the first quarter, the AMCATS didn't find the back of the net until late in the second quarter when a goal from Aiden Foster broke the silence for AMC. A goal from Hank Gittines with just under three minutes left in the first half gave the AMCATS their second goal of the evening. They would close out the half trailing behind the Monks 9-2.

After the Monks held off the AMCATS for most of the third quarter, Foster found the back of the net again for his second goal of the night and AMCATS third goal of the game. Off the face-off Nathan Powers broke free and buried an unassisted goal just seconds after the goal from Foster. The AMCATS however closed out the third still trailing far behind the Monks.

In desperate need of goals the AMCATS answered early in the final quarter after Daniel Mara tucked in a goal off a pass from Liam Bedenkop. A quick goal from Gittines kept things moving for the AMCATS before they were met with a pair of goals from the Monks. The AMCATS responded however after Gittines found Bedenkop for the AMCATS seventh goal of the evening. Gittines would close the game out scoring the final goal of the night with a minute and thirty left on the clock. Despite the AMCATS putting away four goals in the fourth, it wasn't enough as they closed the game out behind the Monks 20-8.
