Bio

Sharon Zenevitch is back for her 13th season on the AMC sidelines in 2015. 

The AMCATS enter the 2015 season after making an appearance in the first-ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championship game after switching leagues prior to the start of the season. The AMCATS fell short in the championship to the Sharks of Simmons College, but were offered a bid to the ECAC Tournament, where they traveled to play Salve Regina University. 

The 2014 season saw Zenevitch place four student-athletes on the GNAC All-Conference team, including then-junior Kylie Dalbec, who was tabbed as the GNAC Offensive Player of the Year and went on to earn National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NHFCA) All-New England First Team honors and ECAC All-Star Second Team honors. The 2014 team also had 10 players qualify for the NFHCA National Academic Squad. 

In 2013, the AMCATS had their most successful season to date, as the team qualified for the program's first-ever NCAA tournament. The AMCATS went undefeated in NECC regular-season competition and swept the playoffs by downing Regis in overtime of the championship game to earn their second-straight NECC postseason title.  

Zenevitch was named the NECC's Coach of the Year for the third-straight time in 2013, as she also earned the recognition at the culmination of the 2012 and 2011 seasons. 

Her 2012 campaign was also one of the greatest seasons in AMCAT field hockey history. The team captured the NECC championship and earned an ECAC tournament bid. A record 14-win season was second best all-time including an undefeated conference mark, 6-0.

Once again the team was recognized by the NFHCA as one of the top academic teams in Division III. Nine players earned spots on academic teams. On the gridiron, the AMCATS earned the NECC Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year titles as well as Coach Zenevitch being named NECC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season by her peers.

After an eight year hiatus, Zenevitch returned to Anna Maria as Head Field Hockey Coach in 2011. Her 2011 squad had an eight win season, besting the previous season by 6 wins. With a 4-2 New England Collegiate Conference record, the team earning a berth in the NECC finals in their inaugural season.

The 2011 crew was recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) as one of the top academic teams in Division III. As one of 106 schools to be recognized, Anna Maria received team recognition for achieving a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2011-12 academic year. The AMCATS boasted a cumulative grade point average of 3.09. Seven Lady AMCATS were named to the NFHCA’s All-Academic team (3.0 or higher) while four were selected to the NECC’s All-Academic Team (3.4 or higher).

At the completion of the season the AMCATS took home several pieces of NECC hardware. Coach Zenevitch was named NECC Coach of the Year, the team picked up the Sportsmanship award as well as the Rookie of the Year.  

Coach Zenevitch began her AMCATS coaching career in 1988 when she spearheaded both the softball and field hockey teams for six seasons. She was back on the AMC sidelines again from 1999-2003. Prior to her current stint at Anna Maria, she was the interim field hockey coach at Becker College.

While previously at Anna Maria, Zenevitch won three Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) softball titles, a pair of Massachusetts Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (MAIAW) softball championships and was named CCC Field Hockey Coach of the Year (2000).

During her time at Becker the team won the inaugural New England Collegiate Conference Field Hockey Championship.

Sharon’s overall winning record of 221-219-6 at AMC spans four decades. 

Coach Zenevitch and her husband Mark have three children: Ryan (UMass '12), Dan (University of Hartford '14), and Liz (freshman at St. Peter Marian HS).
