AMCATS drop season finale to Raiders, 16-2

Paxton, Mass. – The Anna Maria College women's lacrosse team dropped their final game of the season, 16-2, to visiting Rivier University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.  With the win the Raiders move to 8-7 overall and 6-4 in GNAC play while the AMCATS complete their season with a 0-13 record, 0-10 in the GNAC.

Sophomore Elana Reilly (Braintree, MA) and junior Savannah Neuwirt (Newbury, NH) each recorded a hat trick and eight other Raiders scored a goal to lead a balanced offensive attack.  Sophomores Paxton LaRocque (Londonderry, NH) and Kaitlyn Marshall (Haverhill, MA) also had multi-goal games for the Raiders, scoring two apiece.  Sophomore goalkeeper Danielle Moran (San Diego, CA) stopped six AMCAT shots on the afternoon, earning her eighth win on the season.

Brittany Jackson (Mamaroneck, NY) scored both goals for the AMCATS, her third multi-goal game of the season. With Anna Maria down 2-0 early in the contest, the sophomore converted a free position shot to cut the Raider lead in half.  With ten minutes remaining in the 1st, Jackson picked up a ground ball in the AMCAT defensive end and drove the entire length of the field to put home her second goal of the contest.  Jackson also led the AMCATS with shots on goal (4) and ground balls (3).  Junior goalkeeper Bridget Larsen (Hull, MA) posted seventeen saves in the loss.

Rivier, who has qualified for post-season play, will await the completion of conference play on Saturday afternoon and the release of GNAC seeding on Saturday evening.
