Women's Lacrosse: AMCATS Blanked by WildCats

Junior netminder Bridget Larsen (Hull, Mass.) had 13 saves in her debut between the pipes but it wasn't enough as the Johnson and Wales women's lacrosse team posted a 21-0 shut out victory over Anna Maria in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletics Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

JWU sophomore Cassie Collins(Oswego, N.Y.) led the Wildcats with four goals while freshmanLydia Knapp (Glens Falls, N.Y.) had two goals and three assists in the victory for the Wildcats.  Junior Brittany Manfro (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) also had a hat-trick with three goals while picking up four ground balls for JWU.  Freshman Megan Brown (Great Mills, Md.), freshman Kayla Smith (Eastham, Mass.), sophomore Jessica Schmell (Coopersburg, Pa.) and sophomore Anna Oshiro (Gloucester, Mass.) each had two goals in the victory for JWU.  Junior Toni-Anne Mule (Lake Grove, N.Y.) had one goal and two assists while junior Natialie DiCocco (Media, Pa.) had a pair of assists for the Wildcats.

 

AMC sophomore Emily Adriaansen (Pepperell, Mass.)  and Shelby Looney (Leicester, Mass,) each posted one shot on net, while Brittany Jackson (Larchmont, NY) pulled on five groundballs.

Junior goalie Genevieve Giampietro (Meriden, Conn.) and senior Bella Bartha (Virginia Beach, Va.) combined for the shutout victory for Johnson & Wales. 

 

With the victory JWU improves to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in GNAC play while Anna Maria falls to 0-4 overall and 0-4 in league play.  The AMCATS will return to action on Thursday when they travel to Becker for a non-conference contest starting at 4:00 p.m.
