Lady AMCATS Fall to Elms College

Paxton, Mass. – Sophomore Kayla Jansen (Pittsfield, Mass) notched her first collegiate goal in an 18-1 loss to visiting Elms College in non-conference women's lacrosse action at AMCAT Field. The AMCATS fall to 0-7 on the season while the Blazers improve to 2-6 overall.

Elms was led by junior Nora McDonough's (South Hadley, Mass.) seven points (4 goals, 3 assists). Midi Kayla Narey (South Hadley, Mass.) potted five goals while teammate Ashley Cava (Wilbraham, Mass.) netted a hat trick.

Sophomore Bridget Larsen (Hull, Mass.) posted 16 saves for Anna Maria, her counterpart Sarah Carpenter (Vernon, Conn.) made two saves for her second win of the season.

Sophomore Brittany Jackson (Mamaroneck, NY) and Katherine Landanno (Winchendon, Mass.) each collected three ground balls for the AMCATS. Jackson led the team with three shots on goal.

Narey opened the scoring for Elms, tipping the twine just twenty seconds into the game. Freshman Kathleen Tuechler (Farmingdale, NY) found a streaking Jillian Pirog (Ludlow, Mass.) for an Elms goal and added an unassisted tally to push the score to 3-0. Elms would reel off seven more goals before Jansen's score would cut the deficit to 10-1.

Elms would close out the half with a pair of goals from Cava and McDonough to hold a 12-1 advantage at halftime.

The Blazers would continue pressuring the AMCATS defense and score six second half goals for the 18-1 final.

Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday when they host GNAC rival University of Saint Joseph at noon, while Elms will host Becker College in a NECC match-up starting at 5:00 p.m.
