Monks Race Past Lady AMCATS

Paxton, Mass. – The Anna Maria College women's lacrosse team fell to visiting Saint Joseph's College (ME) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on a rain soaked AMCAT field on Tuesday afternoon.

With the win the Monks move to 9-6 overall and 8-1 in GNAC play while the AMCATS fall to 0-12 on the season and 0-9 in the GNAC.

The Monks used a balanced attack and team play as sixteen different players notched goals with fifteen assists handed out. Krystal Walsh potted one goal and added four assists to lead Saint Joseph's with five points. Sophomore Mary Leasure (South Portland, Maine) was the only Monk with two goals, she also had one assist. Sophomore Kat Gadbois(Scarborough, Maine), senior Cassie Diplock (Augusta, Maine) and senior Anneka Adame (San Diego, Calif.) all had the same stat line: one goal, two assists. Freshman Emma Astbury (Bridgewater, VT) made six saves for her second win.

The AMCATS' Brittany Jackson (Mamaroneck, NY) tossed in the lone goal for Anna Maria. The sophomore tipped the twine with an unassisted tally midway thru the second half. Jackson also led the AMCATS with six shots on goal. Junior Kate Ketchum (Palmer, Mass.) was the lynchpin in the defensive core with a caused turnover and six groundballs.

Junior Bridget Larsen (Hull, Mass.) posted fifteen saves in the loss.

Anna Maria wraps up the 2014 campaign on Thursday afternoon when they host Rivier College at 4:00 p.m.
