Women’s Lacrosse: Mustangs Gallop Past AMCATS, 20-4

Paxton, Mass. – Sophomores Brittany Jackson (Mamaroneck, NY) and Emily Adriaansen (Pepperell, Mass.) each potted a pair of goals in a 20-4 loss to visiting Mount Ida College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse action today at AMCAT Field. The loss drops Anna Maria to 0-6 overall and 0-5 in conference play. Mount Ida improves to 3-8 on the season and 1-5 in the GNAC.

Senior Molly Sheppard (Brookhaven, NY) had a big day for the Mustangs notching five points on four goals and an assist, while Rebecca Beaulieu (Weare, NH) and Kaitlyn Affhauser (Cheshire, Mass.) each scored a hat trick and a helper in the win.

Junior Bridget Larsen (Hull, Mass.) stopped 20 shots on goal between the pipes for the AMCATS.

Trailing 5-0, Jackson tipped the twine with a free position score for Anna Maria at the 21:18 mark of the first half. The Mustangs ran off nine goals to close out the half with a 14-1 lead.

The AMCATS opened the second stanza with a duo of goals. Adriaansen collected her first goal of the season 4:47 into the period and Jackson followed with an unassisted tally to cut the lead to 14-3.

Mount Ida would outscore the AMCATS 6-1 down the stretch for the 20-4 final.

Anna Maria returns to action on Thursday afternoon when they host Elms College in non-conference play. The Mustangs will host Fitchburg State University on the same day.
