Valter Santiago Named Men's Soccer GNAC Rookie Of The Week

Winthrop, MA...Anna Maria first-year men's soccer goalkeeper Valter Santiago (Norwood, Mass.) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week after helping the AMCATS to two straight GNAC wins during games played October 17 - 22. The AMCATS improved to 3-6-2 in the conference following the 2-0 week. Santiago had five saves in a 3-2 win over Elms and seven saves en route to a 2-0 shutout win over Regis and his first career shutout. He has appeared in 11 games this season while starting in 10 and has recorded 73 saves. With the two wins this past week, the AMCATS keep their playoff chances alive.

The AMCATS return to action in their final regular season game on the road against GNAC opponent St. Joseph's (CT) on Wednesday, October 26 at 6 pm.
