CLICK Nets 1,000th point

PAXTON, Mass. (01.28.12) – Junior guard Anthony Click (Springfield, Mass.) had a team high 20 points en route to becoming the 20th player in Anna Maria history to surpass the 1,000 points plateau but the AMCATS fell to Lasell College 60-55 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at The Fuller Activities Center on Saturday afternoon. With the win the Lasers improve to 8-11 (7-5 GNAC) the loss drops Anna Maria to 7-11 (5-6 GNAC).

Click hit the milestone mark when he drained a jumper from the right side with 14:06 left in the second half. Click scored his 20 points on 8-for14 shooting from the field, he also grabbed 10 boards, dished out 3 assists had 4 blocks and two steals before fouling out with two minutes to play in the game. AMC senior Brad Peterson (North Kingstown, RI) contributed with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks.  

Lasell was led by senior Javon Williams (Mattapan, Mass.) who shot 11-for-17 for 27 points. The forward also had 4 blocks, 2 steals and 2 assists in the game. Nate DiSessa (Westfield, Mass.) poured in 12 points and Sean Bertanza (Seymore, Conn.) and Sherrod Wade (College Park, GA) each had 7 points.

The teams opened up the game trading baskets, AMC's Matthew Landry (Wallingford, Conn.) gave Anna Maria a 19-17 lead after hitting a tre at 10:24. The Lasers responded with a 13-3 run that included a three pointer by Sean Bertanza and a layup by Sherrod Wade to take an eight point advantage 30-22 with three minutes to play in the stanza. The Lasers would hold a 34-26 lead into the locker room.

The Lasers opened up a 12 point lead just 4 minutes into the second half, Click's landmark basket cut the lead to 43-36 just a minute later. After Lasers Nate DiSessa scored a layup in the paint at 10:57 the lead was back to 10 points.

The AMCATS wouldn't give up battling back to cut the lead to 53-51 on a good layup by Hugh Daye (Worcester, Mass.) with 3:51 remaining, DiSessa once again responded with a jumper to increase the Laser lead to 55-51. A Corey Pryor (Northbridge, Mass.) jumper with :24 seconds remaining made it 57-55 but AMC couldn't get any closer and suffered the 60-55 loss.

The AMCATS return to action on Thursday when they host Albertus Magnus at 7:00pm.
