Colonels Run to Victory Over AMCATS

PAXTON, Mass. – The Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team fell to the Colonels of Curry College by a final score of 18-4 on Thursday evening. The AMCATS drop to 2-5 on the season while the Colonels improve to a 5-4 overall record.

 

AMCAT LEADERS

 

Freshman Brandon Pavoni (Granby, Mass.) led the AMCATS with three points from two goals and one assists on the night. Sophomore Hunter LaRochelle (Chicopee, Mass.) and Ryan Rockwal (Chicopee, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for the AMCATS with a goal apiece. Sophomore goaltender Paul Schwarz (Staten Island, N.Y.) had 22 saves in the loss for the AMCATS.

 

COLONEL LEADERS

 

Junior Matt Serra and freshman Andrew DeLeary led Curry to victory with five points apiece. Serra had four goals on the night and one assist while Deleary had three goals and two assists. Sophomore Mj Urbano followed their lead with four points of his own with three goals and one assists. Josh Teller earned the win in net for Curry, playing 51 minutes and recording eight saves.

 
 

HOW IT HAPPENED

 

The Colonels came out of the gates firing away with a goal from Matt Serra with 10:31 left in the first quarter to give the Colonels a 1-0 lead. The Colonels continued their offensive attack with another goal from Andrew DeLeary with 9:23 left in the first quarter to give the Colonels the 2-0 lead. As the quarter went on the Colonels did not slow down and ended the first quarter with a 8-0 lead. The second quarter started off the same for the Colonels with a goal from Jack MacMenomey with 12:34 in the second quarter to extend the lead to 9-0. The AMCATS fought back with a goal from Pavoni with 2:48 left in the second quarter to bring the score to 9-1. The AMCATS quickly scored again with a goal from Ryan Rockwell with 2:17 left in the second quarter to bring the score to 9-2. The Colonels pressure proved to be too much for the AMCATS to answer to as they outscored Anna Maria eight to two in the second half.   

 

WHAT'S NEXT?

 

The AMCATS will host Becker on Saturday, April 1 for a 1:00 p.m. non-conference match-up. The Colonels will travel to Nichols on the same day for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
