AMCATS Fall at Nichols 10-5

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team fell at Nichols College, 10-5 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the AMCATS to 2-2 overall while the Bison improve to 2-0 on the season.

AMCAT LEADERS

Anna Maria was led by freshman Kurt Richardson (Narragansett, R.I.) who had two goals on the day. Paul Mills (Auburn, Mass.), Jacob Smith (Belchertown, Mass.) and Andrew Guinane (Billerica, Mass.)  also added goals in the loss for the AMCATS. Smith recorded a team high four ground balls and freshman Brendan Bartlett ( Tyngsboro, Mass.) won four of 13 face-offs for the AMCATS.

BISON LEADERS

Reece O'Connor led the Bison with six points on the day from five goals and one assists. Kevin D'Angelo won seven of ten face-offs for the Bison while Tyler Sikich collected a game high six ground balls.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bison came out firing and their defense was held strong to earn a 7-0 lead entering the half-time break. The AMCATS earned their first goal in the third period with 4:40 to play as Richardson collected a pass from sophomore Ryan Rcokwal (Chicopee, Mass.) in a man up situation to bring the score to 8-1. After a goal from the Bison, Smith tallied a goal for the AMCATS with 2:34 to play and Guinane added a goal to enter the final period with the Bison leading, 9-3.

The AMCATS opened up the fourth period scoring with a goal by Mills at the 9:31 mark (9-4). Richardson was able to tally one more goal before the end of the game as Nichols took the final 10-5 victory.
