Jakola Named GNAC Baseball Rookie of the Week

COMPLETE GNAC RELEASE

WINTHROP, Mass.—Freshman pitcher Tanner Jakola (Leominster, Mass.) of the Anna Maria College baseball team has been tabbed the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

He becomes the first member of the AMCAT team to earn a conference weekly award this season.

Jakola made an immediate impact to the AMCATS' pitching rotation in the first week of the season, as he totaled win and a save while making a team-high four appearances. He pitched a total of 10.1 innings and compiled a 3.48 ERA while also striking out four batters.

He tallied a season-best three strikeouts against Curry and earned the win against Trine in his first collegiate appearance, where he pitched 2.1 innings and did not allow an earned run. Jakola earned the save in an inning of work in Anna Maria's 2-1 win against King's (Pa.) and also made an appearance against Neumann.

The AMCATS recently returned from their spring break trip, where they played eight games and tallied a 3-8 record. Anna Maria is scheduled to return to action on Sunday for a doubleheader at Newbury College.
