Baseball Falls to Becker, 8-0

ROCHDALE, Mass. – Senior hurler Keon Jenkins (Nashua, N.H.) tossed six shutout innings as Becker College defeated Anna Maria College 8-0 in non-conference baseball action Tuesday afternoon at Rochdale Park.

The win lifts the Hawks record to 13-16, while the AMCATS fall to 7-20.

The Hawks gave Keon Jenkins all the runs he would need in the bottom of the first. Freshman Francis Baldino led off the game with a triple to right center. Trevor Read (Colorado Springs, Colo.) followed with an RBI single to centerfield. After Matthew Consigli (Whitinsville, Mass.) kept the line moving with a double to left field, Niko Bedell (Manorville, N.Y.) plated Read with a groundout to third base. Nick Harriman (Harrisville, R.I.) capped off the inning with single up the middle to score Consigli.

Becker would increase their lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the third when Nick Harriman drove in a pair of runs with a bases load single.

Matthew Consigli and Niko Bedell hit back-to-back homeruns in the bottom of the fourth to put the Hawks in front 7-0.

Becker scored their final run of the game in the bottom of the sixth when Francis Baldino scampered home on a wild pitch.

Keon Jenkins evened his record to 1-1 on the year after striking out six AMCATS on just three hits. Mark Brousseau (Worcester, Mass.) pitched two scoreless innings, while Christopher LaDou (Worcester, Mass.) tossed a perfect ninth to complete the shutout

Corey Andrade (Mashpee, Mass.) had two hits on the day including a double, while Nate Frederick (Worcester, Mass.) and Trevor Brown (Gardner, Mass.) each had a hit for the Anna Maria. Camden Frederick (Worcester, Mass.) suffered the loss after allowing five runs on six hits.

Anna Maria returns to the diamond tomorrow afternoon when they host Elms College at 4:00 p.m. Becker will travel to Southern Vermont College on Thursday, April 30 for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
