Men's Soccer Drops 3-0 to Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass.—Anna Maria College fell to Nichols College 3-0 in non-conference men's soccer action Thursday afternoon. The loss moves the AMCATS record to 0-1-0, while the Bison jump to 1-1-0.

STORY LINE

Anna Maria played a tough defensive game as the Bison of Nichols college demanded the offense with a total of 23 shots on the day with 13 on net. Junior goaltender, Elliot Kuzma (East Haven, Conn.) kept the game close tallying 10 saves to keep the AMCATS in reach. Anna Maria's seven shots on net were ultimately shut down by Nichol's goaltender Alex Gaes.

SCORING

First Period:  Zachary Lemire notched his first goal of the game (second of the season) in the sixth minute of the first half after taking a cross from sophomore Cooper Milano and placing the ball into the lower left corner of the net.

Second Half: David Melanson's goal was scored in the second minute of the second half on a penalty kick. Lemire scored his second goal of the day after receiving a clear attempt downfield and beating one defender before placing it into the left corner.

GOALTENDERS

Bison goaltender Gaes stopped seven shots for the Bison before being replaced by freshman Patrick Porpora for the last 15 minutes of the game. Anna Maria's netminder, Kuzma stopped 10 shots in the loss.
