Hawks roll to victory over AMCATS

BRISTOL R.I. - A total of 14 different players scored a goal for the Roger Williams University Men's Lacrosse team in Tuesday's 19-3 conference win against Anna Maria College played on Bayside Field. Senior Logan Roebuck (Pine Bush, N.Y.) lead the way with four goals.

The Hawks were the first to score 1:33 into the game, with Roebuck getting his first tally. Less than two minutes later, Roebuck scored his second goal off a pass by Justin Leddy (Sea Girt, N.J.). With 5:27 to play in the quarter, senior Drew Smith (Blue Point, N.Y.) made the score 3-0 via another assist by Leddy. With five minutes left in the first quarter, senior Jim Turenne (Bristol, R.I.) made it a 4-0 game.

The Hawks never looked back, scoring six goals in both the second and third quarters, and finishing up the fourth quarter with three more. Senior Rob Andreozzi (Bristol, R.I.), and sophomore Kirby Sundquist (Concord, Mass.) each contributed two goals. Hawk senior goalies Tyler Roebuck (Pine Bush, N.Y.) picked up the win for the Hawks, while he and senior Tom Hardon (Devon, Pa.) and freshman Colin Bono (Mattapoisett, Mass.) combined to make eight saves.

Anna Maria struggled for the first three quarters of the game, not being able to score a goal. Entering the fourth quarter with the score 16-0, the AMCats were finally able to get on the board. Junior Brad Peterson (N. Kingston, R.I.) notched two goals in the final quarter, while Sophomore Chris Summers (Long Valley, N.J.) scored the other goal. Sophomore Andrew Ellis (Fitchburg, Mass.) took the loss for Anna Maria.

Roger Williams' (4-3, 4-0 TCCC) next game is on April 2nd at home versus Gordon College at 1:00 p.m., and Anna Maria (4-6, 1-4 TCCC) takes on Gordon College on March 31st at home at 4:00 p.m.
