Gulls use balanced attack to top AMCATS

Beverly, Mass. – 14 different players scored for Endicott as the Blue and Green won their The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) opener, 22-2, over Anna Maria Saturday afternoon.  The Gulls led wire-to-wire and jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the first 15 minutes.  Sophomore goalie Will Lomas (Weston, Conn.) kept the AMCATS off the board and made one save during that time to pick up the win.  

Junior attack Brian Vincent (Norwalk, Conn.) led the way with four goals and one assist while classmate Ryan Tocci (Arlington, Mass.) added a hat-trick. Johnny Kovach (Beachwood, Ohio)Kyle Jordan (Falmouth, Maine), andDoug Bergner (Fairfield, Conn.) each scored twice for the Gulls (2-1), winners of two straight after opening the season with a loss.

Anna Maria (0-2) was led by Andrew Biscardi (Wantagh, N.Y.), who tallied a goal and an assist to go along with a team-high six ground balls.  Jaron Dalbeck (Princeton, Mass.) added a goal in the setback.

Endicott peppered the net with 63 shots and put 40 on target.  Anna Maria'sAndrew Ellis (Fitchburg, Mass.) made 18 stops in the loss. 

Greg Dunlavey (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) opened the scoring less than three minutes in with an unassisted goal.  Vincent doubled the lead eight seconds later with his first of the day, thanks to Sam Ozycz's (Cheshire, Conn.) faceoff win and assist.

Endicott poured in 11 more goals in the opening half and took a 13-0 lead into the break.   Vincent scored two straight coming out of the half before freshman Chris Janelle's (Falmouth, Maine) goal with 6:20 to go in the third made it 16-0.

Dalbeck put the AMCATS on the board with 4:11 remaining in the quarter but the Gulls responded with two of their own, one by Brendan Hunter (Medford, Mass.) and another by Chris Murphy (Holden, Mass.) to extend the lead.  Kovach and Bergner each scored twice in the final 15 minutes before Biscardi's tally in the closing seconds capped the scoring for both sides. 

Endicott returns to action on Tuesday (March 15) when it plays host to Amherst at 5:30 pm.  Anna Maria also hosts a non-conference opponent when it welcomes Norwich on Wednesday (March 9) at 3:00 pm.
