Coach Mulrooney Speaks at AFCA Convention

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Earlier this week, head football coach, Dan Mulrooney and members of his staff attended the annual American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) convention in Charlotte, N.C. Which is dubbed the premier networking event for coaches from all around the country.

At the event, Coach Mulrooney and his staff attended meetings, seminars and panels made up of other coaches from around the country and in many cases from Division I NCAA programs. The AMC staff was able to connect and network with coaches that they would otherwise not have access to, asking them questions and learning about the art of being a college football coach at different levels. This included but was not limited to recruiting and other off the field strategies rather than on field, X's and O's strategy.

In early December, Dan was named to the AFCA's top 35 coaches under 35. At the convention he was asked to speak to a group of his peers. On Tuesday, January 9th he did just that, speaking to the audience about the lessons learned as a first year head coach.

"I want to thank the AFCA for selecting me to such a distinguished group of young coaches. The 35 under 35 committee was an educational leadership series dedicated to helping us with our profession," said Coach Mulrooney. "I was honored to speak in front of my colleagues about being a "First – Year Head Coach". I'm truly grateful to represent Anna Maria College and I'm excited about the future here. RING THE BELL!" Dan added.

After returning from Charlotte, Coach Mulrooney and his staff are back to work, working hard to build the AMC program and brand, recruiting top talent from the region and nationally to Anna Maria and preparing for the 2018 season.
