AMC’s Head Football Coach Becomes Associate Athletic Director

Paxton, MA (January 29, 2014) Anna Maria College announces that Vincent Sinagra, head coach for the College's football team, has been named Associate Director of Athletics.  Mr. Sinagra will assume the responsibilities of the current athletic director, Stanley Vieira, who is leaving AMC to pursue doctoral studies abroad.  As Associate Athletic Director, Mr. Sinagra will oversee the entire athletic program at Anna Maria College, which includes 17 men's and women's NCAA Division III sports teams, while the College conducts its search for a new director. Mr. Sinagra will also continue to serve as the head coach for the football team during this transition.
 

Mr. Sinagra joined AMC as a member of the football coaching staff in 2010, and was elevated to Head Coach in 2012.  He brought over 30 years of coaching experience with him, including 16 years at the Division I level with schools such as Stony Brook, Holy Cross, Fordham and Norfolk State.

 

Mr. Sinagra is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Health, as well as his Master's Degree in Physical Education, Health, and Recreation.

Background

Prior to joining AMC, Coach Sinagra was the Linebackers Coach for the defense at Norfolk State that was ranked fifth nationally. As the Defensive Coordinator at Bloomsberg University, he led a unit that was ranked number two in the nation among Division II teams.  Also during his coaching career, he had the pleasure of instructing some extremely talented players, including former New York Jets wide receiver Wayne Chrebet. 

As a player, Coach Sinagra was a standout offensive and defensive tackle at New Utrecht High School in New York receiving numerous honors including being selected to the Schoolboy All-American Team. He earned an athletic scholarship to the University of Rhode Island, where he was a four-year varsity starter as defensive tackle. He was named Team MVP during his senior season and had the opportunity to play against the Air Force All-Stars in the "Turkey Bowl" held in Frankfurt, Germany.

Coach Sinagra's 2012 squad at AMC produced eight ECFC All-Conference accolades including three members on the first team, an ECAC Player of the Week and BSN Defensive Player and Team of the Week selection. There were two AMCATS recognized on the Senior Class Pre-Season All-American Squad and five players acknowledged by the Worcester Area Football Association. Most notably Tim Ray and Andrew Nevit earned ECFC All-Academic honors.
