Men's Hockey Comes Up Short to Assumption

WORCESTER, MASS: The Anna Maria Men's Hockey team fell to Assumption College this evening 4-1 in nonconference action.  

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 1/18/2020

Score: Assumption 4, Anna Maria 1

Records: Assumption (7-7-2), Anna Maria (9-5-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Greyhounds got on the board first with the only goal scored between the two team through 2 periods. Robert Holyoke found the back of the net to give Assumption the 1-0 advantage going into the third period.

-  Sam Cyr-Ledoux (Montreal, QC) tied the game up 1-1 13:05 into the third, but the tie was short lived for the AMCATS.

-  With the help of a few penalties, the Greyhounds capitalized on two power play opportunities one from Dante Maribito and the other from Sean O'Connell. In between the two goals was another Assumption score giving them three within two minutes. Robert Roche scored the what was a 3-1 Assumption lead. O'Connell's empty net PP goal got us to the final of 4-1 in the opponent's favor.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Drew Benedict (W, 1-0-1) saw 29 shots and saves 28.

-  Julius Huset (Oakdale, MN) (L, 5-3-2) had another 30+ save game with 31 saves after facing 34 shots.

-  The AMCATS were 0-4 on the power play tonight while Assumption was 2-6.
