Men’s Hockey Drops Five On Rams

AUBURN, MA. – On Tuesday, January 9th the Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team hosted the Framingham State University Rams at the Horgan Skating Arena in Auburn, MA. The AMCATS won the game 5-2.

The AMCATS were quick to get on the board scoring just six minutes into the first period after Braeden McKinnon set up Brandon Della Paolera for his sixth goal of the season. The AMCATS kept their momentum going as Cam Tobey and Samson Mouland helped set up Justin Taylor for Anna Marias second goal of the night just three minutes later. As the clock hit the final ten seconds of the first period, the AMCATS managed to sneak in their third goal of the night off the stick of Della Paolera with the help of Derek Raposo

Trailing 3-0 at the start of the second period, the Rams came out strong outshooting the AMCATS 24-14. Despite the Offensive push, Framingham was unable to get past Matthew Hennessey who stopped all 24 shots to keep the game at 3-0 in favor of the AMCATS.

After a scoreless second period, the AMCATS picked things back up in the third period with a goal just over a minute in, off the stick of Nicholas Fredricks with the help of Spencer Carpenter. The Rams would finally break their silence five minutes later when Brent Scott tucked in their first goal of the game just two seconds after the AMCATS came off the power play. Nearly four minutes later, the Rams tacked on their second goal of the night when Jake Barcelou scored off his own rebound making it a 4-2 game with just under ten minutes left to play. Despite a late push from the Rams, it wouldn't be enough to get them a comeback as the AMCATS would end the game with an empty net goal from Derek Raposo with just ten seconds left on the clock. The game would end with a score of 5-2 in favor of the AMCATS.
